There are a handful of items in No More Room in Hell which are essential to player unity, teamwork and survival. These items are not highlighted or noted in the game and players must actively and vigorously search for them in any given level. They can be picked up using "E" by default.
As of 1.05, if your inventory is at least half full, you will suffer a speed penalty.
Tools in NMRiH are used in two capacities. The first is behaving more or less like a traditional melee weapon (except the flaregun, which behaves like a pistol). The second capacity is the special functionality of each, filling a certain role that is unique for each tool.
Can be used to weld shut or cut through specific metal objects.
Aside from being a heavy-hitting melee weapon, the extinguisher can be used to put out flames to clear paths to certain items or objectives.
Not only a weapon for igniting zombies into flailing bags of flesh, but can be used to fire a signal flare for a helicopter to drop off a supply crate or even signal a rescue vehicle in some maps.
A quick-hitting melee weapon that also allows the user to barricade doors, windows or other points (as chosen by the level designer) if they have wooden planks in their ammunition inventory.
A crucially important tool used to illuminate the path for yourself and other players. Sometimes it flickers, but don't worry. It is an LED Maglite with batteries that essentially last forever. A future update might remove the infinite batteries in the Maglite.
A lighter that can provide a small flame for the player to see with, but provides no other purpose (not even as a weapon). The flame produced by the zippo barely lights up the path in front of the player and only provides a false sense of security.
These items can be carried in the player's inventory and can be used but opening the radial inventory and hovering the mouse over it. An exception can be made with the walkie talkie because the player uses it everytime they press the transmit voice button.
Survivors who want to be able to communicate with each other across large distances should seek out the walkie talkie. When picked up, it provides the user a passive and easy way to communicate with other walkie talkie users who are in a different area of the current level they're in.
This item is the Phalanx anti-infection drug. It is equipped from the Radial Inventory and consumed immediately. It will be removed from the inventory and will cure infection temporarily for 3 minutes, at which point it will slowly start to set back in and resume its deadly course.
The first-aid kit, when used by the player will regain 40% of the player's health that has been lost. Note that the first-aid kit doesn't slow down infection if used after getting bit. It is advised to not use the first-aid kit unless the player's vision has turned completely black and white to avoid wastage.
This item is used to stop bleeding inflicted by zombies occasionally. It is equipped from the Radial Inventory and consumed immediately. It will be removed and stop your bleeding, putting your health back to rights. It should be noted that if you do not use one in time you can in fact bleed out and die.
A good crowd control item, use it to wipe out entire packs of zombies. Beware though as the flames can sometimes allow shamblers to turn into runners! The only downside is that in order to avoid taking explosive damage from the blast, players have to use a firearm to ignite the tank. If not, hitting it with a melee weapon will potentially kill the player.
FEMA Duffel Bag
A zone repair item, only available in Survival maps and in special boxes marked with yellow glow sticks strewn all across the map. In order to use it, the player has to bring the bag to a zone that has less than 90% health left. If used correctly, the bag will disappear as soon as the player drops it in a damaged zone and an extra 25% health will be added to the zone that the player drops the bag in. Other than zone repair, the bag does not provide any sort of assistance to the players.
A somewhat bulkier version of the first-aid kit, this item is only available in Survival maps. The first-aid box holds a 150% of health and is able to heal an entire team. Unfortunately, the first-aid box can be found stashed in places far from the player's reach, usually near the zombie spawning areas making it incredibly hard to get especially during an ongoing horde attack. It is advised to retrieve the first-aid box AFTER a horde attack during the cool down stage to avoid complications and lost of lives.
