The barricade hammer, alternatively called Claw Hammer or Nail Hammer is a very common civilian tool. The hammer may be the oldest tool for which definite evidence exists (dating back to to 2,600,000 BCE).

The Barricade Hammer featured in NMRiH is used to barricade areas defined by the map designer. In order to do so, you require wooden boards and must be close to a door that is able to be barricaded in order to place a board. It will take a few seconds to effectively barricade a door at which point the only way of removing said board is to destroy it.

Note:In some cases, players can crouch or jump over wooden boards and it is not always necessary to full board up a door.

While being a useful tool, it can also deal damage and acts like many melee weapons. It has a fast rate of attack and while its swings maybe low in damage, taking anywhere from 4 or 5 hits to kill a Zombie, it's attack rate and low stamina cost mean it can still be an effective close range melee weapon.

The hammer cannot be used in conjunction with a maglite.

Strategy

if one is using a barricade hammer as a weapon there is a quick way to kill a zombie. 1 charge hit to the head and 1-2 quick hits. Sometimes it will take a tremendous amount of hits for some zombies. when you barricade doors you don't always have to barricade fully. you can patch a door with one plank only to save wood for other doors. With this strategy players are able to hit through the gaps of the door to kill the zombie on the other side. If the door was partially patch you can crouch through the open space to get to the side. When patching doors fully make sure it is the right door. once you patch the door fully it is basically a wall, you cannot jump over it, you cannot crouch, and you can't even hit a zombie with melee. since it takes a few seconds to patch 1 slot in a door, it is wise to patch doors near the end of the round or during supply drops.the only way to kill a zombie through a fully patched door is to have great accuracy with a gun. just shoot though the small gaps in between the boards.
