Overview
Machetes are common tools for landscaping and forestry. They resemble a giant knife or sword, with a synthetic handle and a long, tempered steel blade meant to chop through large and thick tree branches and foliage. As a weapon it is capable of splitting bone with relative ease and it encounters very little air resistance resulting in fast swings.

The Machete in <i>No More Room in Hell</i> is a high speed, one-handed weapon that deals medium-high damage.

Strategy
The machete is extremely light, allows for flashlight usage, and produces one-hit kills to the head with a great degree of reliability. Thus, a player with a machete becomes almost a one-man army of sorts when wielding this weapon. Unfortunately, since it's relatively rare compared to other weapons, acquiring this weapon on objective maps can be a little tricky.

A machete/flashlight combo allows a player to become an explorer of sorts, since both hardly slow the player down. The ability to dodge zombies easily, sprint quickly, and take out the walking dead with ease allows the player to explore parts of the map a two-handed weapon- or at least a heavier one-handed weapon- might not permit.

On a defensive or offensive standpoint, the machete is almost as effective as the fire axe in terms of sheer destruction. While it does drain the stamina to a greater degree than other weapons, specifically the hatchet and the baseball bat, it can kill a great degree of zombies in a short period of time. Unfortunately, it sometimes fails to kill a zombie with one hit and instead requires several follow-up blows to finish them off. This can swiftly drain stamina, leaving the player to retreat to regain energy.

Perhaps this weapon's drawbacks are few but significant: it's rare, players seeing a machete-wielding player assume they will take the front in fighting zombies, it can be a little exhausting to use, and it doesn't knock back zombies as effectively as a blunt weapon. Nevertheless, it's a fantastic weapon in the right hands for scouts, fighters, and defenders alike.

Pros and Cons
Pros
* High damage and high likelihood of one-hit headkills
* Very light
* Decent range
* Can be used with a maglite

Overview
There are a handful of items in <i>No More Room in Hell</i> which are essential to player unity, teamwork and survival. These items are not highlighted or noted in the game and players must actively and vigorously search for them in any given level. They can be picked up using "E" by default.

As of 1.05, if your inventory is at least half full, you will suffer a speed penalty.

Tools
Tools in <i>No More Room in Hell</i> are used in two capacities. The first is behaving more or less like a traditional melee weapon (except the flare gun, which behaves like a pistol). The second capacity is the special functionality of each, filling a certain role that is unique for each tool.

Welder
Can be used to weld shut or cut through specific metal objects.

Fire Extinguisher
Aside from being a heavy-hitting melee weapon, the extinguisher can be used to put out flames to clear paths to certain items or objectives.

Flare Gun
Not only a weapon for igniting zombies into flailing bags of flesh, but can be used to fire a signal flare for a helicopter to drop off a supply crate or even signal a rescue vehicle in some maps.

Barricade Hammer
A quick-hitting melee weapon that also allows the user to barricade doors, windows or other points (as chosen by the level designer) if they have wooden planks in their ammunition inventory.

Maglite
A crucially important tool used to illuminate the path for yourself and other players. Sometimes it flickers, but don't worry. It is an LED Maglite with batteries that essentially last forever. A future update might remove the infinite batteries in the Maglite.

Zippo
A lighter that can provide a small flame for the player to see with, but provides no other purpose (not even as a weapon). The flame produced by the zippo barely lights up the path in front of the player and only provides a false sense of security.

Inventory Items
These items can be carried in the player's inventory and can be used but opening the radial inventory and hovering the mouse over it. An exception can be made with the walkie talkie because the player uses it everytime they press the transmit voice button.

Walkie Talkie
Survivors who want to be able to communicate with each other across large distances should seek out the walkie talkie. When picked up, it provides the user a passive and easy way to communicate with other walkie talkie users who are in a different area of the current level they're in.

Phalanx
Go to full article 'Phalanx

This item is the Phalanx anti-infection drug. It is equipped from the Radial Inventory and consumed immediately. It will be removed from the inventory and will cure infection temporarily for 3 minutes, at which point it will slowly start to set back in and resume its deadly course.

First-aid kit
The first-aid kit, when used by the player will regain 40% of the player's health that has been lost. Note that the first-aid kit doesn't slow down infection if used after getting bit. It is advised to not use the first-aid kit unless the player's vision has turned completely black and white to avoid wastage.

Bandages
This item is used to stop bleeding inflicted by zombies occasionally. It is equipped from the Radial Inventory and consumed immediately. It will be removed and stop your bleeding, putting your health back to rights. It should be noted that if you do not use one in time you can in fact bleed out and die.

Non-Inventory Items
Gas Tank
A good crowd control item, use it to wipe out entire packs of zombies. Beware though as the flames can sometimes allow shamblers to turn into runners! The only downside is that in order to avoid taking explosive damage from the blast, players have to use a firearm to ignite the tank. If not, hitting it with a melee weapon will potentially kill the player.

FEMA Duffel Bag
A zone repair item, only available in Survival maps and in special boxes marked with yellow glow sticks strewn all across the map. In order to use it, the player has to bring the bag to a zone that has less than 90% health left. If used correctly, the bag will disappear as soon as the player drops it in a damaged zone and an extra 25% health will be added to the zone that the player drops the bag in. Other than zone repair, the bag does not provide any sort of assistance to the players.

First-aid box
A somewhat bulkier version of the first-aid kit, this item is only available in Survival maps. The first-aid box holds a 150% of health and is able to heal an entire team. Unfortunately, the first-aid box can be found stashed in places far from the player's reach, usually near the zombie spawning areas making it incredibly hard to get especially during an ongoing horde attack. It is advised to retrieve the first-aid box AFTER a horde attack during the cool down stage to avoid complications and lost of lives.

< Back to Weapons
Overview
The Torch-It portable welding torch can both weld shut and cut open metal doors, gates, and more. It is a gun-like body with a removable and replaceable oxy-acetylene canister. It can be used as a melee weapon with a quick and charged attack. Alternate fire will turn on the gas and pilot and burn through any lock, door or gate.

As a tool it can be utilized as a somewhat crude improvised weapon for which the Welder is a medium speed, two-handed weapon that deals low-medium damage.

Strategy
The Welder is purely and simply used in maps where areas are blocked off due to a padlock, switch or door. They can be used to destroy padlocks and unweld doors. Some examples in Objective game-modes include the Padlocked gate on Chinatown or the Kitchen Door in Cabin. In Survival Maps, Welders are featured to destroy padlocks blocking access to secret caches of supplies which will be invaluable to Survivors in later rounds. These examples include the Tool Shed on isolated and the Gunshop and Pharmacy on Northway.

As a weapon, it is generally sub-par, it is moderately slow, delivers fairly low damage compared to other more, proficient melee weapons and can use up alot of stamina with charged attacks. It isn't very effective in killing Zombies and thus it is better to find a more suitable weapon after its use has been achieved.

Pros and Cons
Pros

* Lightweight
* Can be used to gain access to inaccessible areas in Survival Map

Cons

* Relatively low damage
* Short range
* Slow
* Can be glitchy/buggy when attempting to unweld doors and padlocks
* Often a critical objective item in Objective Maps
Spades are a very common form of shovel used for breaking ground and soil. They are used for everything from home gardening, agriculture, construction and other engineering uses. They have perpendicular grips at the top of the handle and and a thin steel blade at the bottom.

< Back to Weapons

Overview
Sledgehammers are common construction tools used in the cracking of ground, aggregate, pavement or concrete. They are large with long handles acting as a lever and a solid and heavy steel head. They are able to apply an extreme amount of physical impulse and massive force on to a direct area inflicting incredible damage.

The Sledgehammer in <i>No More Room in Hell</i> is a slow speed, two-handed weapon that deals very high damage.

The Sledgehammer cannot be used in conjunction with a maglite

Strategy
The sledgehammer is a weapon that is a combination of defense (high knockback chance) and offense (high chance to crack skulls). Despite being slow and cumbersome, a player with a lot of experience behind this weapon can clear out a room, part of a street, or a long line of zombies with little effort. However, players unfamiliar with this weapon or the game should remain away from the front of the group and instead utilizing charged attacks against zombies.

One method of using this weapon is to used the charged attack against zombies, and this is pretty effective. Move towards a zombie, let loose a fully charged attack and watch it fly. Move back, allow another survivor to let loose a few hits, then move forward again and kill the next zombie. If it fails to kill, it'll more than likely send the zombie back regardless.

Another take would be to simply utilize quick attacks to swiftly dispatch numerous zombies in order to either advance a group or clear a path for oneself. More zombies can be killed in this hammer, but the chance to miss a one hit kill is greater. In any case, brief rests are required from time to time to allow stamina to build back up.

Either way, be prepared to have space so you can recover stamina. This is especially true on a defensive matter, as you might find yourself being swarmed by zombies or worse, running out of stamina while cornered. The sledgehammer is difficult to use against runners or kids, so be careful with them.

Pros and Cons
Pros
* Heavy quick attack damage - frequent one-hit kills to the head
* Charged attack almost guaranteed to either kill with a headshot or knock back the zombie
* Amusing to watch zombies go flying back after a charged attack
* Long range for a melee weapon

Cons
* Somewhat uncommon
* Heavy
* Slow attack speed
* Uses up a LOT of stamina
* Not quite as effective as fire axe with quick attack
* Cannot use a maglite with this weapon

Overview
<i>No More Room in Hell</i> features a unique mix of civilian, law enforcement and military firearms that all employ their real-world ammunition counterparts. Ammunition is a scarce resource compared to many other games, but it is generally abound enough to keep the pace of the gameplay intense with just enough action to satisfy.

Ammunition is usually hidden around levels on shelves, tables, cabinets, benches, and in areas once garrisoned by survivors or soldiers. Boxes of ammunition do not glow or radiate in any way to stand out to players. It is up to the player to keep an eye out for ammunition of any kind.

As a Gameplay Mechanic
Players have the ability to collect ammo for weapons that they do not currently have. Using the "Drop Ammo" radial menu players can drop a full box of ammo or all available ammo of that type, whichever comes first. Ammo sharing with other players is a key component to surviving in <i>No More Room in Hell</i>.

Flare Guns are common pieces of any survival kit. They are used in the event of an emergency to signal for rescue or aid, usually when stranded or signalling for a helicopter or plane. In certain maps (and in survival mode) if the Flare Gun is fired at the sky at an angle equal to or greater than 75 degrees it can signal for a helicopter to drop off a crate of supplies.

The Flare Gun featured in <i>No More Room in Hell</i> is chambered for 12 Gauge Emergency Flares and it holds one shot at a time.

The Flare Gun can be used in conjunction with a maglite.

Overview
TOC right
The weapons in No More Room in Hell are meant to reflect a varied assortment of civilian, law enforcement and military firearms as well as obvious and unique melee weapons for close combat. Weapons are usually common in and around the opening areas of a level, to equip players initially. Weapons become less common place and more rare as the levels go on, forcing players to search high and low from obvious places such as gun shops to the less conspicuous areas such as behind a knocked over book shelf.

During Gameplay
Weapons can be equipped from the Radial Inventory, by clicking on the weapon with Mouse1. Clicking Mouse2 on the weapon will drop it to the ground for another player to pick up. Weapons can also be equipped by scrolling with the mousewheel.

By default, pressing and holding Mouse2 will shoulder the firearm to ironsights mode for more precision. Your movement and field of view are more constrained while in ironsights. Releasing Mouse2 will return you to hip firing.

All weapons and equipment have an assigned mass that will affect the player's mobility and agility. A encumbrance of inventory will also result in a faster stamina drain.

Bashing
The ability to bash, to shove back an opponent, is a key gameplay mechanic to NMRiH.
Zombies can grab players preventing any further movement and massively increase the risk of infection. Bashing (sometimes referred to as "shoving") a zombie will push them out of your way by a couple of feet and break any hold on you that they may have had. Generally speaking bashing does not do much damage, but some weapons such as the SKS (which features a bayonet) do substantial damage when bashing.

Melee Weapons
Melee weapons are by far the most common place of all weapons in NMRiH. They can be found all over the place and vary in size and speed. Some melee weapons are one handed, which allows them to be used with the flashlight. Most melee weapons do not have this ability however, as many are large and cumbersome.
Charged Attacks
All melee weapons feature a "charged" attack which can be accomplished by pressing and holding Mouse1 (default) and given a few seconds the attack should be fully charged. Winding up with a charged attack is a sure way to deal a massive blow to any hostile, but keep in mind that charged attacks drain stamina in chunks.

Tools
Tools in NMRiH are used in two capacities. The first is behaving more or less like a traditional melee weapon (except the flaregun, which behaves like a pistol). The second capacity is the special functionality of each, filling a certain roll that is unique for each tool.

Special Applications
As listed above each tool has its own unique abilities. Many of these are used to complete objectives (extinguishing fires, cutting through doors) while others augment the gameplay (barricading doors, signalling for a supply drop). By default if the player uses Mouse2 (default), this will activate the Special of the tool. This applies to all except the flaregun, whose functionality is only achieved if fired in to the sky at an angle at or greater than 75 degrees.

Firearms
Round in the Chamber
In No More Room in Hell, Firearms have two sets of default capacities. The magazine capacity and a round in the chamber. Magazine Capacity tells how many bullets are within a magazine, while a round in the chamber tells whether a round is loaded into the guns barrel or "chamber" itself, ready to fire.

For example, the Beretta M9 has a magazine capacity of 15 rounds but can hold 16 rounds in total with a round chambered. This would look like this, 15+1. To achieve this goal, simply reload while still having rounds in the magazine. Most weapons have this by default and will be listed with the original magazine ammo count and a plus to say whether the weapon can accept a round chambered. There are only certain exceptions of this rule where weapons do not receive this feature.

Ammunition Check
Almost all firearms, as well as the Flare Gun and Chainsaw can have an Ammo Check. By holding down Reload (R by default), the player will initiate a small animation which the player will check the weapons total ammunition count. As of the 1.05 update, Characters will play an audio cue to how many rounds are remaining in their current magazine.

In the case of Handguns, Shotguns and some Rifles with capacities below 15 rounds, the player will give an approximate number of the remaining rounds left in their weapon. For weapons such as the MP5A3, M16A4, MAC-10, Beretta M9 and Winchester 1892 will refer to a rough approximation of the number of rounds left in the magazine such as "Magazine is full", "Over Half", "Half a Mag" and "Almost full", only until the weapon drops below 15 rounds will an exact number of rounds be stated. In the case of the Beretta M9, the term "Magazine is Full" refers to a fully loaded magazine plus a round in the chamber.

Ironsights
Iron sighting is possible with all firearms, and can be done by holding down Mouse2 (default) for the desired duration.
Ironsighting raises the firearm up to eye level allowing you to look down the sights and greatly improve your accuracy, and narrow your cone of fire to help preserve ammunition.

Focus Mode
Handguns will allow you to enter a 'focused' aiming mode, which will double your damage and give you a 75% chance to knock a zombie back. To activate this mode, simply enter Iron Sights mode and stand still for 3 seconds. If done correctly, your vision will have a sanguine tint and a Depth of Field effect, along with your character holding his/her breath. Currently this only affects Handguns.

Simonov SKS - Designed by Sergei Simonov for the USSR in 1944 and based on the German StG-44 and the Russian AVS-36, the SKS was one of the first firearms to be chambered for the now-infamous 7.62x39mm Soviet cartridge. The SKS is a wildly popular rifle in the civilian market due to its cheap cost and high surplus numbers. Most in civilian ownership can trace their origins to service in the Red Army. M16A4 - Based on the original AR designed by Eugene Stoner in 1958, the decades have been good to the classic design and have seen it pass through a number of iterations. The current standard assault rifle of the United States forces is the M16A4 manufactured by FN Herstal, and is commonly used in a semi-automatic fire mode and often equipped with a Trijicon ACOG optic as well as KAC M5 handguard for equipping vertical grips. They come equipped with 30 round magazines chambered in 5.56mmx45 NATO ammunition.

Heckler & Koch MP5A3 - Made famous in 1980 after being used in a raid by British SAS commandos to liberate the Iranian Embassy in London, the MP5 family of submachine guns has gone on to become one of the best selling and most widely used submachine guns in the world. It is used in the United States by numerous local, state and federal agencies from everything from security to law enforcement to special forces operations. The MP5A3 is chambered in 9mm Luger and uses 30 round magazines.

Ingram Mac-10 - Developed by Gorden B. Ingram in 1964, the MAC-10, officially known as M-10 was a highly compact, blowback operated machine pistol firing the .45 ACP cartridge and was predominately made from steel stampings. While it was used by US Navy Seals during the Vietnam War, it later gained a bad reputation after civilian models could easily be converted to fully automatic fire being used by various criminal organizations and the popularly televised "Gang Culture" where it became synonymous with "Drive-By Shootings". Regardless the weapon had a high rate of fire of nearly over 1000 rounds per minute, dwindling its 30 round magazine capacity in less than a second.
M67 Fragmentation Grenade - The M67 grenade is a fragmentation hand grenade used by the United States military. The M67 is a replacement for the M61 grenade used during the Vietnam War, and the older Mk 2 "pineapple" grenade used since World War II. Hand Grenades come in a variety of types, the most common being Fragmentation grenades. "Frag's" as they are colloquially named are designed to explode with metal fragments inducing injury or death. In No More Room in Hell, Frag Grenades have a large blast area and are very effective versus Zombies.

Overview
TOC right
The weapons in No More Room in Hell are meant to reflect a varied assortment of civilian, law enforcement and military firearms as well as obvious and unique melee weapons for close combat.

The Beretta 92FS, known by its Department of Defense designation of M9, is a very common civilian, law enforcement and military sidearm. It was developed in the 1980s and adopted in 1985 to replace the Colt M1911A1 as the standard sidearm of the US military.

The Beretta M9 featured in <i>No More Room in Hell</i> is chambered in 9x19mm ammunition and stores 15 rounds per magazine.
The Beretta M9 can be used in conjunction with a maglite.

Overview
TOC right
The weapons in No More Room in Hell are meant to reflect a varied assortment of civilian, law enforcement and military firearms as well as obvious and unique melee weapons for close combat.

The Model 1892 is popular amongst Cowboy Shooters and re-enactments and is often a popular hunting weapon for Varmints and Intermediate game by Civilian Shooters. The Model 1892 in-game chambers .357 Magnum rounds with a magazine capacity of 15+1 rounds.

It is loaded by ten round stripper clips.

Overview
The Pipe Wrench is an adjustable household plumbing and maintenance tool designed by Daniel Stillson in 1869. They vary in size and length, and are made out of steel and can exert incredible amounts of direct and angular pressure.

The Pipe Wrench in <i>No More Room in Hell</i> is a medium speed, one-handed weapon that deals medium-high damage.

Strategy
The pipe wrench is relatively heavy (almost as heavy as the lead pipe), but its swings are fast and the charged attack is enough to bring down a zombie if the head is struck; it is also a very common weapon. However, being only a pipe wrench, the wrench requires the user to be much closer to a zombie that with the other weapons (like the sledgehammer and fire axe) without the high damage that weapons like the kitchen knife and machete can offer. Being a blunt weapon, it does have a greater knock back chance, but zombies are usually killed before it comes into effect. This can also be paired with the flashlight, making a good weapon in dark places compared to the two-handed weapons.

Pros and Cons
Pros
* Somewhat quick
* Somewhat frugal on energy - 20 to 25 swings before exhaustion
* Very common
* Can be used with a maglite

Cons
* Heavy for a one-handed weapon
* Short-ish range
* Weak compared with the other one-handed weapons

Phalanx is a prescription drug developed in the in-game universe of <i>No More Room in Hell</i> by real-life pharmaceutical giant Pfizer. It was intended to treat those infected with 732-ZH Encephalitis Lethargica. It was a commercial success but a clinical failure. The world collapsed before Pfizer could complete research in to an effective drug treatment, but players can find bottles of Phalanx scattered around in rare places in most maps and can use it to stem off infection in themselves or others for a short time.

In-Game Use
Players can pick up found bottles of Phalanx with "E" (default), and they can consume the drug while infected by opening the Radial Inventory and left-clicking on the item. It will be immediately consumed and take effect. It lasts for approximately three minutes before it wears off and infection sets back in from the start.

Origins
As there is quite evidently no cure for the 732-ZH Encephalitis Lethargica virus, that doesn't mean that pharmaceutical laboratories and world governments haven't been working vigorously to find a treatment, cure, or a vaccine. The closest thing to a treatment is a prescription drug known as Phalanx, developed by pharmaceutical giant Pfizer.

Over a two year period since the discovery of the virus Pfizer was engaged in an exchange of confidential and top secret knowledge of how lethal the virus could be with the government of the United States as well as the World Health Organization. The United States government officially invested $2 billion in to Pfizer's R&D process, with the UN and WHO investing another $500 million and Pfizer itself spending a record $4 billion of its own cash.

Research & Development
Over a grueling and hectic research process, many dead-ends and non-starters were encountered. The research team was also stonewalled numerous times by intrusive management from the Pfizer board of directors and shareholders who were concerned the research was going to eventually cost more than the company could recoup in the first year of sales. On top of that, mismanagement by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta caused numerous headaches and slowdowns of development. Namely the Deputy Director of Preparedness, Detection & Control of Infection Diseases at the CDC, a man named Dr. William Frank, was accused (although not publicly) of stonewalling research being done at Atlanta as well as information sharing with Pfizer and other pharmaceutical companies for personal reasons. He was later fired from the CDC in February 2010 but the damage had already been done.

Infection Spreads
As infection spread and quarantines weakened, the epidemic quickly became a pandemic. As Pfizer was by far the furthest ahead of any competition in researching a treatment, they were pressured publicly and behind closed doors from both Republican and Democratic leaders to push the drug to the market well before it was ready. The Food and Drug Administration guaranteed an "expedited" trial process to get the drug on the market as soon as possible. This was to achieve two goals at once. The first and primary was to calm the public and give the illusion that the situation was under control. The second, and this is where the drug really fell flat on its face, was the effective treatment of 732-ZH Encephalitis Lethargica.

Phalanx Hits the Market
The drug was a commercial success and the board of directors fears of a narrowing profit margin were skillfully avoided. Unfortunately the same could not be said for the actual effectiveness of Phalanx. Many of those afflicted who were treated professionally or self-medicated with Phalanx had reports of dizziness, loss of consciousness, heart palpitations, lowered blood pressure, and in rare cases it caused internal bleeding in those with preexisting liver or kidney issues. Though on the whole, the drug seemed almost immediately effective. This grace period was nothing more than a honeymoon phase for Phalanx, as many who had felt recovered after treatment quickly relapsed, even while still on the intense regimen of medication.

The drug was shown to effectively fight off 732-ZH EL, albeit for a very short time before the virus inexplicably "overcomes" the treatment and resumes business as usual. The result is 100% fatal.

Based on the original AR designed by Eugene Stoner in 1958, the decades have been good to the classic design and have seen it pass through a number of iterations.

The current standard assault rifle of the United States forces is the M16A4 manufactured by FN Herstal, and is commonly used in semi-automatic fire mode and often equipped with a Trijicon ACOG optic as well as KAC M5 handguard for equipping vertical grips. They come equipped with 30 round magazines chambered in 5.56mmx45 NATO ammunition.

Lead Piping is used often in older structures, common in many places in the United States. It has long since fallen out of favor and is prohibited for use in new structures in many places due to its toxicity. A disconnected section of lead pipe can be used as a brutal blunt weapon.

As a weapon, the lead pipe is a slow-medium speed, one-handed weapon that deals medium damage.

The lead pipe can be used in conjunction with a maglite.
